Electrophysiological testing is very stressful for parents and children as well as for the technicians and physicians responsible for performing the testing. Jean Piaget was the first to suggest that children actually think differently than adults, and Albert Einstein proclaimed that this discovery was “so simple that only a genius could have thought of it.” 1 Over time, protocols and procedures have been developed that enable testing to be obtained in most children while awake with the least stress possible. These reproducible techniques are delineated in this chapter.
