Photocoagulation continues to gain widespread acceptance as a method of retinal ablation for the treatment of threshold retinopathy of prematurity, particularly when the ridge is located postequatorially. Both transient focal and dense mature cataracts have been reported in infants after indirect argon laser retinal photoablation. We observed the development of transient cavitary lenticular changes in two infants during indirect laser photoablation with the diode laser, for treatment of retinopathy of prematurity.
